Seal is the companion app for Grain Patch, a full-grain leather NFC tag (72×22 mm) made by Kyoto Makotoya. Write something that matters into the leather, and anyone who taps it with a phone will find it there.

WHAT YOU CAN SEAL • Contact — your name, phone, and email, opened as a contact card • Link — one URL, where you exist online • Words — a line worth carrying, with 68 words from around the world to begin from (Words Worth Carrying) • Location — a place and why it matters, on its own quiet page • Leave Blank — not deciding yet is also a choice

HOW IT WORKS Write in the app, hold your phone to the patch, and it is sealed. Reading needs no app — a tap opens it on NFC-ready phones.

PRIVACY, BY DESIGN • No account. No sign-in. • Contacts and messages are encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM). The key lives only in the URL on your tag — it is never sent to a server. • Locations are prepared entirely on your device. Nothing is stored on a server. • What is sealed belongs to the one who carries it.

THE OBJECT Grain Patch is full-grain leather over an NTAG213 chip. It ages as leather does. And when you are certain, a patch can be locked — permanently.
