Features & Capabilities

Draw a loop and a singing bowl rings. Stack a few into a slow sound bath and let it breathe. Sound healing you play by hand, fully offline on your iPhone.

Glideophone is a singing bowl you play by drawing. Trace a loop on the screen and a bowl rings, then holds, so you can build a warm, breathing sound bath one line at a time. It is sound healing you make yourself, with no notes to read and no knobs to learn.

Every tone is synthesized live from the inharmonic partials of a real bowl, the shimmer that gives Tibetan singing bowls their voice. Nothing is pre-recorded. If you can draw a circle, you can fill the room with sound.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Draw a loop and the bowl rings; close it and the drone sustains
  • Stack up to 5 bowls into a slow, living chord
  • Drag a bowl across the canvas to morph its shimmer and timbre
  • Double-tap a bowl to mute it
  • Tuned to Asian pentatonic and meditative modes: Hirajoshi, Kumoi, Sakura, Iwato, Insen and Malkauns, with a smooth glide between them
  • Gentle haptics as you cross each note

A LIVING SOUND BATH Every scene keeps evolving. Bowls shimmer, breathe and drift, so no two moments sound the same. Lay down a calm backdrop for meditation, relaxation, yoga or winding down, or simply draw and listen.

WHAT IT IS (AND ISN'T) Glideophone is an instrument you play, not a library of pre-recorded tracks. There are no guided sessions, no voice-overs and no stock audio. It is not a sleep-sounds player, and it is not a set of physical crystal bowls. It is a singing-bowl instrument you play with one finger, and every sound is one you draw and shape yourself.

Do I need any music experience? No. Draw a line and it sings. There are no notes to read and nothing to set up.

Can I use it for meditation or sound healing? Yes. Many people draw a slow sound bath to relax, focus or meditate. Just remember it is an instrument you play, not a guided session that plays for you.

What is a sound bath here? The wash of overlapping bowl tones you build by stacking a few drones. Drag them to colour the sound and it keeps evolving on its own.

How is this like a real singing bowl? Your finger circles the rim and the bowl rings, much like running a mallet around a real one, but you can hold, stack and reshape each tone.

Does it work offline? Yes. Glideophone runs entirely on your device. No microphone, no account, no ads, no network, and nothing you make ever leaves your iPhone.
