Scottish river & catch journal
New: interactive catch map with drop-pin locations. Track catches, monitor live SEPA river levels, check weather and tides, and connect with your fishing crew.
RiverGhillie is the complete digital journal for salmon and trout anglers on Scottish rivers. Track every catch with GPS precision, monitor live river conditions from SEPA, and get the weather data you need to plan the perfect trip — all in one beautifully designed app.
KEY FEATURES
• Catch Journal
Log every fish with species, weight, length, location, photo, and release status. GPS coordinates are captured automatically from your photos. Each catch is enriched with live SEPA river level data from the nearest monitoring station, so you'll always know what the water was doing when you hooked that fish.
• Interactive Catch Map
See your entire season laid out on a map at the bottom of your journal. Every catch position is plotted, and you can tap any catch to fly straight to its location. Each catch card has a map icon — tap it to open a full-screen map where you can view, adjust, or drop a pin to set the exact location. No GPS from your photo? No problem — just drop a pin manually.
• Live River Levels
Real-time data from SEPA's network of ~775 monitoring stations across Scotland. Search any river, see current water heights, track trends (rising, falling, or steady), and view interactive charts spanning 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day windows. Set alerts to get notified when water levels rise on your favourite rivers.
• River Flow Data
Monitor discharge rates (m³/s) alongside water levels, with short-term (6h) and long-term (24h) trend indicators so you can time your trip perfectly.
• Weather Forecast
Detailed hourly and 7-day weather forecasts powered by Open-Meteo. Wind speed and direction, temperature, rainfall, humidity, pressure, and cloud cover — presented in a clear, XCWeather-style format. Add weather favourites for the locations you fish most.
• Tide Stations
Tide predictions near river mouths, with distances and one-tap driving directions via Apple Maps. Know exactly when the tide turns at the waters you fish.
• River Detail Pages
Dedicated pages for each river showing all monitoring stations, interactive level and flow charts, tide stations near the river mouth, weather conditions, and beats and pools contributed by the community.
• Community Beats Map
A shared, crowd-sourced map of beats and pools. Any angler can add a beat with coordinates and notes — instantly visible to all users. Find your way with one-tap driving directions via Apple Maps or Google Maps.
• Crew & Social
Connect with fishing friends. Send and accept friend requests, see your crew's recent catches, and share your angling journey.
• Catch Insights
Visualise your season with detailed statistics — species breakdowns, catch trends, weight distributions, and SEPA level correlations. Spot patterns and improve your strategy.
• Notifications
Get alerted when river levels rise on your favourite waters, when friends log new catches, and when you have pending crew requests. Custom sonar ping notification sound.
• Cloud Sync & Privacy
Your catch log syncs securely to the cloud via Supabase, so your data is safe and accessible across devices. Preferences — favourite rivers, weather locations, pinned stations — sync too. Apple Sign In for secure, private authentication.
