Every page you scan is kept — free documents open to their first 3 pages, and documents longer than 3 pages need Pro to share or export. Free-version exports carry a subtle "PDF Scanner" mark across each page and a small footer line, and when an ad is available you can watch a short one to drop it from a single export. PDF Scanner also saves a picture of each page as it looked before you enhanced it, on the free tier too, so the copies you build up now are still there if you upgrade later. Reverting a page to that picture is a Pro feature, and it brings back the picture only — not the searchable text layer, not form fields, and not anything added since. The copies are kept in your own iCloud Drive and use your iCloud storage; Settings shows how much and can free it.
