PetWheel turns a ESP32 running wheel into a full activity tracker for cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, and more.

A small magnet on a wheel spoke and a Hall effect sensor is all the hardware you need. The open-source firmware runs on an ESP32 and stores every running session — even when your phone is nowhere near. Open the app and it fetches everything it missed: date, duration, and distance for every run.

Sessions recorded without your phone. The wheel detects activity bouts automatically. Sixty seconds of no movement ends a session and saves it. The app syncs everything over Bluetooth the next time you open it — no manual intervention needed.
