Features & Capabilities

ChordFrog trains your ear to recognise chords by sound — no instrument or extra gear required. Play audio quizzes anywhere, then connect a MIDI keyboard (USB or Bluetooth) whenever you want hands-on practice on real keys.

PRACTICE MODES • Leap Quiz — no keyboard needed. Multiple-choice ear training you can do anywhere — on the bus, in a waiting room, whenever you have a few minutes. • Travel Chords — no keyboard needed. An audio chord reference library; tap any chord to hear it. • Challenge — no keyboard needed. Pick up to three chords and ChordFrog builds a short video that plays them, counts down, then reveals the answer. Share it anywhere, or leave it on a cliffhanger and let your friends guess. • My Pond — no keyboard needed. Every chord you have practised, weakest first, with one tap to drill the ones you keep missing. • Lily Pad Drill — with a MIDI keyboard. 10-question scored rounds with up to 100 points. Three tries per chord, so every attempt counts. • Free Pond — with a MIDI keyboard. Play freely and ChordFrog names every chord in real time, including inversions and slash chords.

A MIDI keyboard is optional: four of the six modes work entirely on their own, while Lily Pad Drill and Free Pond add hands-on practice when you connect one.

SIRI AND SHORTCUTS Ask for a chord and hear it without opening the app — useful when you are already reading a chart. Shortcuts can also identify a chord from its notes, list the chords you find hardest, and start a drill on them.

LEVELS Progress through five stages from beginner to advanced: • The Campfire — the most common chords in pop and folk music • The Session — all 12 major and minor chords • The Gig — dominant 7th and major 7th chords • The Studio — minor 7th, sus2, and sus4 chords • The Abyss — everything: diminished, augmented, 7ths, 6ths, and more

CHORD VOCABULARY Recognises major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2, sus4, dominant 7th, major 7th, minor 7th, half-diminished, 6th and add9 chords, including inversions and slash chords. Free Pond also names extended and altered voicings — 9th, major 9th, minor 9th, 13th, minor 11th and altered dominants — and it reads a seventh chord voiced without its fifth, the way players actually voice one.

FREE, WITH ONE OPTIONAL PURCHASE ChordFrog is free and nothing is gated. It is supported by a banner on the menu and one full-screen ad after a completed round; a single Remove Ads purchase takes both away if you would rather not see them.

Designed for pianists, guitarists, singers, producers, and songwriters who want sharper ears.
