Norwegian salmon farm health
Sign in with Apple or Google to save favorite farms and searches across devices. Live sea-lice, disease and temperature from Norway's farms, weekly via BarentsWatch.
FjordPulse turns the Norwegian government's BarentsWatch fish-health data into a
clean, mobile-friendly view of the country's entire salmon aquaculture industry
— every active farm, every reporting week, on one map.
WHAT YOU SEE
• A live map of all active Norwegian salmon farms along the coast, color coded
by their current compliance status (healthy / watch / at risk).
• Per-farm detail: adult female sea lice as a percentage of the 0.5/fish
regulatory limit, mobile and stationary lice categories, sea temperature,
licensed capacity, environmental ("green") license status, land-based RAS
facilities, and the official production area (PO1–PO13).
• NEW: live satellite imagery of each farm's real location, right on its
profile — double-tap it to jump straight to the farm on the map.
• Twelve-week trend charts for lice and water temperature, with Norway's
regulatory threshold drawn on the chart so you can see at a glance whether a
farm is trending toward or away from non-compliance.
• Active treatment timeline: thermal delousing, freshwater bath, in-feed
treatments, mechanical removal, cleaner-fish deployments.
• ILA and PD disease outbreak flags, PD surveillance/protection zone labels,
and fish escape events.
• A national snapshot in the Insights tab: industry-wide lice averages,
outbreak counts, water-condition ranges, and municipality hotspots.
NEW IN 1.1 — FAVORITES THAT FOLLOW YOU
• Tap the star on any farm to add it to your favorites, then filter the Farms
list to just those. Favorite from the list, the farm profile, or the map.
• Save a search — your text plus the status filter and sort — and reapply it
with a tap.
• Sign in with Apple or Google (optional) to sync your favorites and saved
searches across every device. Signed out, they still work on this device and
merge into your account the moment you sign in.
WHO IT'S FOR
• Aquaculture professionals, fish-health technicians and farm operators who
want a quick mobile read on conditions across the industry.
• Investors and analysts tracking salmon producers (Mowi, SalMar, Lerøy,
Bakkafrost and others) where lice and disease outbreaks move share prices.
• Environmental researchers, journalists, and wild-salmon advocates following
the impact of farming on Norwegian fjords.
• Coastal residents, fjord-tourism operators and sport anglers curious about
what is happening at farms in their region.
• Curious individuals.
PRIVACY
FjordPulse works fully without an account. Signing in with Apple or Google is
optional and only enables syncing your favorite farms and saved searches across
your devices; to do that we store your account email and a user identifier, and
nothing more. Farm data comes from BarentsWatch via a small proxy server we
operate, with Apple App Attest verifying that requests come from a genuine
install. No personal browsing or location history is collected.
[ADS] FjordPulse shows ads through Google AdMob, which collects device and usage
data to deliver them; you can limit personalized ads in iOS Settings.

LANGUAGES
The app ships in Norwegian (default — matches the source data) and English.
The English mode translates Norwegian place names via Google Translate and
caches each name on your device so the same name is fetched at most once.
DATA SOURCE
All farm data is from BarentsWatch, the Norwegian government's official marine
open-data service, refreshed weekly when farms file their reports. FjordPulse is
an independent app and is not affiliated with BarentsWatch, the Mattilsynet
(Norwegian Food Safety Authority) or any salmon producer.
INFORMATIONAL USE ONLY
The data in FjordPulse is provided for informational purposes only. It is not
financial, regulatory, or operational advice. Always consult the primary source
and qualified professionals before acting on aquaculture data.
