Steel Rain Call for Fire

v1.0.7 — Two new Fire Support Planning classes: EFSTs & Scheme of Fires (TPME), and Integrating Fires with Maneuver (SOSRA breach sequence + trigger lines).

Steel Rain is a Forward Observer training app for 13F (US Army) and 0861 (USMC) MOS soldiers, FOs, FSOs, JFOs, ROTC cadets, OCS candidates, FA OBC students, and anyone preparing for NCO/officer boards, the FIST certification, or company-level fire-support positions.

• ROC-V THREAT RECOGNITION — Identify 25 near-peer combat vehicles from silhouette: Russian armor (T-72, T-90, BMP-3, BTR-82), PLA platforms (Type-99, Type-96, ZBD-04, ZBL-08, HQ-9), Iranian variants (Karrar, Boragh, Fajr-5), and globally-fielded UAS (Shahed, Lancet, CH-4, Orlan-10). Practice mode for studying. Test mode for +50 XP per category passed.

• ADVANCED PILLAR — SGT-locked classes for senior FOs and promotion study: Immediate Suppression, Final Protective Fires (plan/register/call lifecycle), Danger Close + RED (the 600m working rule), and CAS 9-Line with Type 1/2/3 control and cleared-hot procedures.

• FIRE SUPPORT PLANNING PILLAR — SSG-locked, opens after all four Advanced classes. The senior planning curriculum: P1 D3A Targeting Cycle (Decide / Detect / Deliver / Assess and where the FO plugs in). P2 High-Payoff Targets & the AGM (HVT vs HPT, the HPTL, TSS, and reading the Attack Guidance Matrix). P3 EFSTs & the Scheme of Fires (the Essential Fire Support Task — TPME, task & purpose, method & effects, sequencing into a scheme of fires). P4 Integrating Fires with Maneuver (fires nested in the maneuver scheme — SOSRA breach fundamentals, trigger lines, phased fires, and a worked deliberate-breach example with the FO's exact lift/shift call).

• FIST CERT PREP — 298 ATP-grounded MQF questions for the Joint Fire Support Mandatory Qualification File. Every answer cross-checked against the source publications (ATP 3-09.30 Observed Fires, ATP 3-09.32 JFIRE, FM 3-09 Field Artillery Operations, JP 3-09 Joint Fire Support, JP 3-09.3 Close Air Support) with the verbatim doctrine reference in every explainer. Official MQF test composition: SL1 = 50 SL1 questions, SL2 = 50 SL1 + 25 SL2, SL3 = 50 SL1 + 25 SL2 + 25 SL3. Practice mode, mock test mode, missed-question spaced repetition, and flashcards.

DOCTRINE GROUNDING

All content cites US Army FM 3-09 / ATP 3-09.30 / ATP 3-09.32 (JFIRE) / TC 3-09.8 and USMC MCRP 3-31.6, plus JP 3-09 and JP 3-09.3 for joint fires. Standards-only — no unit SOP. Target numbers use the AB#### format soldiers actually transmit. Target groups use A#A. The 15 subsequent corrections are sequenced per ATP 3-09.30. The Fire Support Planning pillar grounds in FM 3-09 with verbatim chapter and paragraph citations in the lesson text.
