Your Mac's speakers keep playing alongside the iPhone — this is an extra output, not a replacement. Use them both, or mute the Mac and let the iPhone or iPad be the only speaker.

Why not AirPlay or Bluetooth? • AirPlay can't target an iPhone or iPad as a speaker. • Bluetooth doesn't reach across the house and locks your device to one pairing. • Audio Mirror is Wi-Fi: longer range, lower latency, and your device stays free for everything else.

Requires Screen Recording permission on the Mac (the only way macOS lets third-party apps read system audio, via ScreenCaptureKit). Audio Mirror only reads the audio samples — no screen image is ever captured, transmitted, or displayed.
