Features & Capabilities

Know what's growing. Know if it belongs. Powered by open science - free to start, no ads, ever.

Know your plants. Protect your land.

Field Guide: Invasive Plant ID uses your camera to instantly identify plants and tell you whether they are native, invasive, or non-native to your US region - so you can make smarter decisions for your garden, trail, and local ecosystem.

-- HOW IT WORKS --

  1. Point your camera at any plant
  2. Take 1-3 photos for best results
  3. Get an instant ID with native/invasive status, origin story, and ecological impact

-- WHY IT MATTERS --

Invasive plants cost the US over $120 billion per year in ecological damage. They crowd out native species, disrupt wildlife habitats, and degrade waterways. Most people can't tell the difference - until now.

-- FEATURES --

  • Instant Plant ID - powered by PlantNet, a non-profit open science database trained on millions of botanical specimens
  • Native Status - know immediately if a plant belongs in your ecosystem or is an ecological threat
  • Ecological Impact - learn how each plant affects local wildlife, soil, and water
  • Native Alternatives - discover what should be growing there instead
  • Scan History - every identification saved locally to your device
  • Seasonal Invasive Alerts - know which species to watch for each season
  • No ads. No tracking. No data sold. Ever.

User Reviews

Love the app, works well with helping me identity plans, was looking for something like this for a while
by Fl*****, 2026-06-17

Living in Los Angeles, I’m surrounded by an incredible variety of plants, trees, flowers, and landscaping from all over the world. I’ve always been curious about what I’m actually looking at, but identifying plants used to require a lot of searching and guesswork. This app makes it effortless. I simply take a photo, and within seconds it identifies the plant and tells me whether it’s native to my current location. What surprised me most is how accurate and educational it is. I’ve learned so much about the local ecosystem, drought-tolerant landscaping, pollinator-friendly plants, and the difference between native and introduced species. Whether you’re a gardener, hiker, homeowner, parent, student, or just someone who enjoys being outdoors, this app turns every walk into a learning experience. It’s intuitive, fast, beautifully designed, and has completely changed the way I look at the natural world around me. If you’ve ever pointed at a plant and wondered, “What is that?” this app is worth every penny. One of the best apps I’ve downloaded this year.
