METAR, TAF and the GAFOR. Three sources. Three different answers. Threshold gives you the fourth, on your Lock Screen, against the minima you set on the ground.
Can I fly?
You can answer that in two seconds, on the Lock Screen, against the minima you set when no one was rushing you. Threshold is the two-second go/no-go for UK and EU private pilots, on iOS.
The METAR says one thing. The TAF says another. The GAFOR says a third. Threshold reads all three, checks them against your personal minima for the nearest licensed airfield, and surfaces a single verdict: GO, HOLD, or NO. With the rule that produced it one tap away.
This is not a weather app. It is a contract with yourself.
You decide once, on the ground, calm. Five sliders: cloudbase, visibility, wind, crosswind, gust. Four presets: Solo, Dual, Cross-country, Night. The app enforces what you said when no one was rushing you. If you nudge a limit while the verdict was HOLD or NO, the drift detector notices and surfaces it quietly in Settings. Not a banner. Not a notification. A single quiet row that asks: "you raised this limit while the verdict was HOLD. Was that the call you wanted?"
WHAT YOU GET
. Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets that surface GO, HOLD, or NO at a glance.
. Live Activity that watches your planned departure window and flips when conditions move.
. 928 UK and EU licensed airfields at launch, plus nearest-aerodrome fallback for unlicensed strips.
. 12-hour TAF trend timeline that shows you not just "now" but "what's coming".
. Runway-specific crosswind, computed against the active runway for the reported wind.
. Raw METAR and TAF, one tap from the verdict, with every metric linked to the line that produced it.
. Quiet push notifications on verdict flips inside your watch window. No newsletters, no upsell, no engagement loops.
. Drift detector: every change to your personal minima is logged with the verdict and ICAO at the moment of the edit.
SHOW THE WORKING
Every threshold has a documented rule. Every verdict explains why in plain English. The explanation is template-driven, so identical inputs always produce identical words. You can reproduce the verdict by hand. Full rule documentation lives at flythreshold.com/verdicts.
SOURCES
METAR and TAF: aviationweather.gov global ADDS feed; EUROCONTROL B2B for UK and EU. Airfield and runway reference: OurAirports, refreshed per release. Threshold never invents or interpolates values. When data is stale or missing, you see STALE, EXPIRED, or "?" instead of a confident wrong answer.
PRIVACY
No accounts. No analytics on widget content. Personal minima live on-device, in SwiftData. Location is processed on-device and never transmitted. No tracking, no third-party SDKs reading your behaviour.
PRICING
Threshold is a subscription. £3.99/month or £29/year. Founder's pricing of £19/year is locked for the first 100 TestFlight members, for the life of the subscription. No free tier: the widget IS the product, and the work that goes into the rules and the sources is real.
BUILT BY A PILOT
Built at White Waltham (EGLM) by a PPL holder who got tired of bouncing between five tabs at 06:00. Years of personal minima in a Notes file. The maths was never the hard part. Being honest about it was.
Threshold doesn't decide. You decide, on the ground, calm. The app enforces.
