Your phone is now a field tool. Point it at a bird, a beetle, a mushroom, a wildflower — Wildertag's AI identifies the species in seconds. Hear a bird you can't see? Record its call and ID it by sound. Then tag it with the slingshot and other capture tools, log it in your field journal, and watch your map fill up with everything that lives around you.
This is a game you play outside, while encouraging real science and nature logging.
IDENTIFY ANYTHING THAT GROWS, CRAWLS, CHIRPS OR FLIES
Wildertag uses neural networks to recognize thousands of species from your camera: plants, animals, insects, fungi. Just point and shoot for a species ID with key facts, habitat info, and conservation status. IDs are neural-network generated and can be wrong; treat Wildertag as a sharp field partner rather than a final authority, and never eat anything based on an app ID. No field guide degree required.
ID BIRDS BY THEIR SONG — THEN REMIX IT
Can't spot the bird but can hear it? Record its call and Wildertag identifies the species by sound alone. Then take that real recording into the Field Studio and turn it into music — loop the call, layer beats and melodies, and build a track from the actual bird you found in the wild. Where else can you remix a cardinal into a beat?
TAG IT WITH THE SLINGSHOT AND MORE
Every identification becomes a capture moment. Pull back the slingshot, or grab one of your other capture tools, aim, and fling your tag, physics and all. Nail the shot and the species lands in your field journal. It's the part of nature documentaries where they tranq-dart a rhino, except it's you, and it's a fern, and nobody gets hurt.
BUILD YOUR FIELD JOURNAL
Your journal tracks every species you've tagged. Watch entries fill in with details as you master each species through repeated encounters. Some species have Royal variants — rare visual forms that serious collectors will grind for. Your journal is your proof that you actually went outside.
EXPLORE YOUR LOCAL ECOSYSTEM
The Explore Map shows species discoveries near you. Find hotspots where biodiversity clusters. See what other Wildertag players have found in your area. Discover what's been living in your neighborhood this whole time.
LEVEL UP LIKE YOU MEAN IT
Earn XP for every identification and tag. Level up your overall rank and your mastery of individual species. Complete daily and weekly challenges for bonus rewards. Build streaks by showing up consistently.
TRAIN TO GET BETTER
Training Mode lets you practice species identification without being in the field. Study up, test yourself, and level up your knowledge so you're ready for the trail.
COMPETE AND CONNECT
Add friends with friend codes. Check regional leaderboards to see who's discovering the most in your area. Share your best finds as trading-card-style Share Cards.
MEET HUGO
Hugo is your pixel-art hippo mascot. He evolves as you level up, reflecting your journey from curious beginner to seasoned naturalist.
CLASSROOM MODE
Teachers: Wildertag has a dedicated Classroom Mode built for field trips and biology classes. Set up a class, track student discoveries, and turn "go outside and look at nature" into structured learning with real data.
THE VERDANT PLEDGE
When the Wildertag community hits discovery milestones together, we donate to conservation organizations. Your tags aren't just points — they contribute to real environmental action. Every species you identify helps build a bigger picture of local biodiversity.
