Untangle. Reveal. Breathe.
Untangle the strand. The form reveals itself. 648 hand-crafted sumi-e puzzles across six scrolls. No timer. No score. Just one unhurried breath, then the next.
Inkline is a meditative knot-untangling puzzle, drawn in ink on washi paper.
Drag any point on the tangled strand. Remove every crossing. When the last knot resolves, the rope settles into a sumi-e form — a mountain, a crane, a folded moon — and a vermillion seal is stamped onto your scroll.
There is no timer. No score. No streak. No ads. No five-stars-please popup. Nothing is chasing you. The strand will wait as long as you do.
SIX SCROLLS, 648 FORMS
— Mountain. The first scroll. A gentle introduction.
— River. Bending water, returning currents.
— Crane. Folded wings, the bird in flight.
— Bamboo. Hollow stems and quiet wind.
— Moon. The full circle, the crescent, the void.
— Stillness. The final scroll. Calligraphy held in the breath.
Each scroll holds 108 procedurally generated puzzles — the same auspicious number as the worldly desires a practitioner is said to unwind in meditation. Every puzzle is unique, deterministically seeded, and never repeats the same untangling twice.
THE GARDEN
Every form you reveal becomes a brush stroke in a single hanging scroll — a sumi-e composition that grows with you across weeks and months. The mountains rise where you placed them. The crane flies through air you brushed open. By the time the scroll is full, you have painted it.
DAILY KNOT
One new puzzle each day, the same one for every player worldwide. A small ritual — a haiku, in tangle form.
CRAFTED, NOT GENERATED
Every brush stroke is hand-drawn vector calligraphy. Every sound is procedurally synthesized — a koto-like pluck on every untie, a quiet ambient bed of pentatonic notes if you want it. Every shape resolves into a real Japanese kanji or sumi-e motif. No stock images. No generated art.
WHAT INKLINE IS NOT
— Free-to-play.
— No accounts. No sign-in. No email. No tracking. Your progress lives only on your device.
— No subscriptions. No microtransactions. No ads, ever.
— Not "casual." It is unhurried, which is a different thing.
PRO
Mountain — the first scroll — is free in its entirety. The remaining five scrolls unlock with a single one-time purchase. After that, Inkline costs you nothing again.
For players who untangle their headphones before bed.
