Reefer Degrees

Reefer Degrees includes a scientifically based heat-transfer model that estimates how long it takes for cargo inside an unplugged reefer to reach a user-defined critical temperature.

Users can enter key parameters—such as ambient outside temperature, initial cargo/reefer temperature, allowed maximum cargo temperature, container size, and cargo category (e.g., apples, frozen berries, meat)—and the app calculates the approximate duration (in hours and minutes) until the internal temperature reaches the specified threshold.

The app also provides quick reference information on typical temperature set points, humidity levels, and ventilation requirements for a wide range of commodities transported in refrigerated containers. These recommendations serve as general guidance for planning and operational awareness.

Reefer Degrees is designed to offer convenient, at-a-glance support for logistics teams, inspectors, cold-chain managers, and anyone working with reefer cargo. All calculations and recommendations are indicative, and users remain responsible for verifying and applying the correct settings based on their own procedures and professional judgment.
