The live map had a dark gap right over my region while the edges were active. I drove 40 miles east into the colored zone and saw faint pillars. Without the visual, I would have stayed home and missed it.

I booked a northern lights tour in advance. This app's forecast showed low activity for my first three nights but a spike on night four. I rescheduled my tour to the peak window. We saw ribbons of green for two hours.

The auto-refresh is my favorite feature! I fell asleep watching the KP index at 3. The app refreshed every 15 minutes. At 1 AM, a spike hit 6. The notification woke me. I ran outside and caught a five-minute burst of purple pillars before it faded.
