Knuarier is a hand-crafted iOS companion for learning Kanuri, the language spoken across the historic Kanem–Bornu region around Lake Chad. Every screen, every animation, and every flashcard was built to make a less-documented language feel approachable, warm, and worth coming back to. Inside the app you will find: • A Home dashboard with a daily greeting from Mai, your current streak, a one-tap shortcut to keep learning where you left off, and a fresh cultural fact each day. • A Learn library covering Greetings, Numbers, Family, Food, Body, Colors, Animals, Travel, Market, and Daily Life, each topic split into bite-sized lessons. • Flashcard lessons showing the Kanuri word, a pronunciation hint, the English meaning, and a real example sentence, with Mai reacting to every tap. • Random in-lesson events so practice never feels mechanical: a cultural pop-up, a surprise mini-quiz, a small joke, a bonus XP shower, or a quick word-origin tip. • A Practice mode that turns everything you have learned into multiple-choice quizzes with live score and streak feedback. • A Phrasebook of useful real-world expressions, searchable and grouped by situation, ready for travel, family chats, or market days. • A Profile that tracks your XP, streak, total words learned, and lessons completed, with full progress reset whenever you want a fresh start. Mai himself was drawn frame-by-frame in code: a stepped Bornu mud-fortress crown, an indigo tagelmust turban, a calabash gourd pendant, and a three-layer Lake Chad wave tail that ripples while he teaches. He breathes, blinks, and lip-syncs. You learn. Lake Chad gets a little closer.
