Features & Capabilities

Eight free ways to learn the world map — flags, capitals, borders and shapes. Every country you learn fills in on your own map. No account, no internet, no ads.

Border Chain is a geography game built around one idea: you learn a map by using it, not by reading a list.

Eight ways to play, all on the same world map.

Map Hunt — find a country on the map. Tap it. No options to guess between. Geo Guess — name the country that's highlighted. Guess the Flag — whose flag is this? Flag Match — pick a country's flag out of four. Capitals — name the capital city. Border Chain — cross land borders from one country to the next, Portugal to Poland one neighbour at a time. Neighbor Rush — name everything that touches a country. Alphabet Rush — every country starting with one letter, against the clock.

Your world fills in as you play

Every country you meet is coloured on your own map, and the colour deepens as you get it right in more than one way. Recognising a shape isn't the same as knowing a flag, so a country only counts as known once you've placed it two different ways, and mastered at three. The dashboard breaks it down by continent and by country, and 22 achievements mark the milestones.

Built to be played, not endured

Rounds of ten, so a session has a shape and an end. Type your answer or choose from four — your call, per mode. Spelling mistakes are forgiven. "Kirgistan" is right; you're learning geography, not orthography. Country names are always in English, so answers don't change with your phone's language. Borders on or off, per mode — the map is much harder without them. Hints when you want them, never forced. Nothing repeats until you've seen everything else.

Entirely offline

No account. No sign-in. No internet permission at all — check it yourself in Settings. Nothing you do leaves your phone, because there is nowhere for it to go.

Country outlines come from Natural Earth, a public-domain map dataset. Capitals come from Wikidata. Both are bundled with the app.

198 countries. However well you think you know them, Alphabet Rush on "M" will tell you otherwise.
