Features & Capabilities

For kids who find a ticking clock stressful. Time becomes a picture that builds as they work — no numbers, no countdown. Free to start, with one scene free to try.

For a lot of kids, watching a clock count down is the hard part. The ticking, the shrinking number, the pressure of time running out — it becomes its own distraction, and it can make starting even harder.

Task Timer takes the clock away. No numbers, no ticking, no countdown on your child's screen. Instead, time becomes a picture that quietly builds while they work and eases back during breaks. When the picture is complete, the block is done. Time you can see, not time you count.

HOW IT WORKS A one-minute setup asks four simple things — your child's age, how focused they feel today, how hard the work is, and how long they want to go. From those answers, Task Timer builds a focus rhythm on an evidence-based work-and-break pattern: short work blocks, short breaks between them, and a longer break after every third block. Then your child taps Start once and begins. Starting is the hardest step, so it takes a single tap — no menus, no second confirmations.

WATCHABLE TIME As they work, their scene builds. Breaks gently reverse it, and instead of encouraging more screen time, Task Timer offers a quick movement prompt — stand up, stretch, get some water — with a seated option for kids who need it. Every change is signaled in advance, so nothing feels sudden, and the rhythm holds even if the phone is locked.

THE FINISH When every block is done, the ending is a real celebration — confetti, fireworks, a glowing trophy, and a short fanfare. It's the payoff that makes the effort feel worth it.

SCENES Bubbles is free — glowing shapes that drift in as time passes. Unlock Everything adds three more:

  • City Lights — a night skyline that lights up window by window
  • Rain — a peaceful dusk that fills as time passes
  • Reveal — a real photo uncovers itself, piece by piece, as the session builds. Choose the built-in gallery, calm patterns, a surprise pick, or add your own photo: your child, your dog, next week's trip. You can try Reveal free once, to see how it feels before you decide.

BUILT TO STAY CALM A few firm rules: no numbers for time anywhere your child can see, no red "time's running out" pressure, calm transitions that are always warned in advance, and a screen that stays awake through a session.

ACCESSIBILITY, BUILT IN Reduce Motion is respected in every scene. Sounds and haptics can each be turned off. Movement prompts can switch to seated rest. VoiceOver speaks in calm, number-free language. And no answer in setup is ever "wrong."

WHO IT'S FOR Children and teens (about ages 6–18) with ADHD and executive-function challenges — and any child who finds a ticking clock more stressful than helpful. A parent or the child can set it up in a minute; after that, they just watch and work.

PRICING & PRIVACY Pay once to unlock everything. No subscription, ever. No ads, no accounts, no sign-in. We don't collect your data and we don't track your child — Task Timer connects to Apple only to handle the one-time purchase, and nothing else.

User Reviews

Sitting down for long blocks of boring homework is a recipe for meltdowns for kids with ADHD. This timer has been sooo helpful. I love that the sprint recommendations are research based and it shows in the impact it makes in our home!
