A YEAR AGO TODAY Folios quietly resurfaces what you wrote on this date in earlier years. Nothing to set up, nothing to remember. Just a gentle reminder of who you were last summer, waiting at the top of the page when you open the app.

YOUR MOOD, WITHOUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE No tapping a smiley face every night. Folios reads your writing on your device and picks up the feeling behind it — joy, calm, anxiety, gratitude, sadness, anger. Over time the Reflections tab shows your month's mood, your writing rhythm, your streak, your busiest hours and your word counts. You just write. The insights arrive on their own.

Folios offers a fresh prompt each day, and a full prompt picker inside the editor when you want a different one — reflective when things are good, gentler when they are not. Write freely, brain dump, list what you are grateful for, or work on a poem.

PRIVATE, AND OFFLINE FOR GOOD Your entries live on your phone, in a private database. No account. No sign-up. No cloud sync. Nothing to upload and nothing for us to read. Lock the journal with a PIN or Face ID — and turn the prompt off if you would rather just type. If you ever need to hand your phone to someone, a decoy PIN opens a separate, ordinary-looking journal instead of yours.

BACK UP ON YOUR TERMS Export your entire journal as a file, or protect it with a password using AES-256 encryption, and import it again on any device. Turn on auto-backup to a folder you choose and forget about it.
