Pantry-Pulse is a mobile food scanning and nutrition assistant designed to help users make more informed grocery and packaged-food decisions. The app allows users to scan product barcodes, manually enter UPC codes, review nutrition information, view ingredient details, and save previously scanned products in their history.

The core functionality focuses on quick product lookup and easy-to-understand nutrition guidance. After scanning or entering a barcode, users can view a product detail page that may include the product name, image, nutrition facts, ingredients, nutrition highlights, score information, additive details, and better-choice guidance when available. The app presents food information in a simplified format so users can understand key nutrition and ingredient concerns without needing to interpret a full label manually.

Pantry-Pulse also includes a scan history feature so users can return to products they previously scanned. History is designed to support repeat grocery decisions and allow users to compare products over time. If a product cannot be found from available data sources, the app provides a no-product-found state and recovery options instead of stopping the user.

The app supports guest access for basic usage and account-based access for saving and premium features. Users may browse basic product information without immediately subscribing. Premium and AI Pro features are available through in-app subscription options and may include expanded ingredient analysis, additive explanations, product rescue/photo lookup, cleaner food guidance, and other AI-assisted food insights.

Barcode scanning requires camera permission. If camera access is not granted or scanning is unavailable, users can use manual barcode entry as a fallback. Product and nutrition data may come from third-party food/product databases, and availability may vary by item.
