Features & Capabilities

TrailsIQ is the field-operations app for trail-maintenance crews. Whether you're patching a washout, replacing a sign, or rerouting a section after a storm, TrailsIQ keeps your work documented, your team coordinated, and your office with the data they need — without coming back to a desk to log it.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Log maintenance issues from anywhere on the trail. Drop a GPS pin, snap photos, set a priority, hit save. Issues sync to your organisation's dashboard in real time.

• Set trail status from the field — open, closed, partial, advisory. The moment you change it, followers of your organisation get a push notification on the TrailsIQ Report app. No more "is the trail open?" calls during a storm.

• Catalog infrastructure — bridges, signs, gates, water bars — and track inspection schedules. The app surfaces what's overdue.

• Run volunteer days and events with built-in signup forms, online waivers, and per-event reminders. Manage the calendar from the dashboard; field crews see who's signed up and check folks in from the app.

• Record GPS trail tracks as you walk, ride, or rebuild a route. The recorder works in your pocket — lock the screen and keep moving; the track keeps growing. Edit vertices on the map after you stop, then save it as a new trail or correction.

• Mark points of interest. Trailheads, viewpoints, intersections, parking — all categorized and searchable.

• Log time spent on each task. Hours and minutes per issue, ready for monthly reports.

• Approve or reject incoming public reports. When a trail visitor files an issue through TrailsIQ Report, your crew gets a push notification — handle it straight from the bell panel.

• Track expenses with auto-cropped receipt photos. Tap-scan a receipt at the trailhead or the hardware store — iOS's built-in document scanner clips it perfectly. Link each expense to a maintenance task, then export as a weekly or monthly PDF for reimbursement.

• Annotate issue photos with a pencil tool — circle the bad joint, point to the loose bolt — so whoever picks up the task sees exactly what you saw.

WORKS OFFLINE

Trail crews lose signal more often than they have it. Every save — issues, structures, expenses, photos, GPS tracks — goes through a local queue that survives the app closing or your phone dying. Nothing gets lost. The queue resumes the moment you reconnect, and on Android it can keep uploading while the app is in your pocket.

GPS RECORDER, FIELD-FIRST

The trail recorder is built for the way crews actually work: keep moving, glance at the map only when you need to, and pocket the phone the rest of the time. iOS's blue background-status bar tells you GPS is still running while the screen is locked. Stop when you're done, edit the line, and save.

PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

When a public report comes in, your phone buzzes. Tap the banner to jump straight to the issue — no menu hunting.

WHO IT'S FOR

TrailsIQ is built for organizations that maintain trails — mountain-bike clubs, parks departments, trail associations, land trusts, equestrian groups. If your team works on trails and you need a record of what was done, who did it, and when, this is the app.

You'll need an active TrailsIQ account, or membership in an organisation that has one. New here? Sign up at trailsiq.com.
