User Reviews

I found the book "The Pulp Method" incredibly helpful when I read it a while back. I was actually going to buy a copy (originally read on KU, which I no longer use) when I saw the creator had a whole series now. Checking his website, I saw there was now an app. Fantastic! The concept of the app is great. Love the idea of a tool like this to help go through the entire flow from brainstorm to publication. The app has a lot of great info in it. *BUT*... this app is not ready. First, the brainstorm section has you input information that seem to have no connection to the hook that is generated. And there's no way to actually type in your own hook with the brainstorm. Same occurs with the premise generated in the brainstorm. In addition, it's not clear where the input from the brainstorm goes. If you tap on "resume" in the dashboard, it bumps you back to the beginning rather than showing you what you've already done. Second, the outline section does not save your work as you go. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I went through the first few prompts. When I exited, and tried to "resume" the project, it bumped me back to the beginning of the brainstorm. When I think tried to "view project" for the dashboard, the outline was empty. These flaws make the app unsuitable for what it is purporting to do. The app otherwise has helpful information in it. But all the app can only functionally be used for at the moment is a reference source. Unless that's fixed, you'd be better served reading "The Pulp Method" and using the outline template provided there rather than using this app. While it's great that the app is an affordable one-time fee, the app is not ready. I feel like I paid $5 to be a beta tester. I do hope these issues get fixed and I can come back and give the app a better rating.
