19 native network probes — diagnose, audit, monitor. TLS + Domain audits stream live. Tap any IP to route into another tool. All on-device. Free, no IAP.
Rumskrot Beacon is the network engineer's toolbelt for iPhone and iPad. The diagnostics you reach for during a 3 a.m. outage — ping, traceroute, DNS, TLS audit, domain audit, port scan, mDNS — collected into a single native app that runs entirely on-device.
THE TOOLS THAT EARN THEIR KEEP
• Diagnose wizard — runs ping → DNS → TCP → TLS → HTTP in sequence and tells you exactly where the path is broken.
• TLS audit — protocol matrix, HSTS, cert health. SSL Labs–style A+ / A / B / C / F grade, computed on-device. Streams live as each probe lands; the grade firms up in real time.
• Domain audit — MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, CAA, BIMI in one tap. Sections fill in section-by-section as each DNS lookup returns. Posture verdict: Secure / Partial / Misconfigured (or Undetermined while the audit is still running, never a misleading premature green badge).
• Cert dashboard — every host you've audited, sorted by expiry urgency. Add a host and the audit kicks off in the background; the row lands when it's done. Swipe to remove.
• Templates — chain N tools into a one-tap recipe. Curated presets ("API endpoint health check", "Mailserver health check"), or build your own. Drives Shortcuts and Siri.
• curl — full HTTP request builder. Method picker, headers, body editor, "Copy as curl".
• MTR — continuous traceroute with per-hop loss + RTT sparklines.
• Plus the basics: Ping, Traceroute, DNS lookup, Reverse DNS, WHOIS, HTTP probe, Port scan, mDNS / Bonjour browser, Subnet calculator, ASN lookup, My network, TLS inspector.
NINETEEN TOOLS, EACH NATIVE
Every probe is implemented in Swift against Apple's frameworks — Network.framework, dnssd, URLSession, NWBrowser. No third-party SDKs. No web wrapper. No "cloud middleware".
COMPOSE, ROUTE, DEEP-LINK
• Cross-tool routing — every IP, host, and port has a one-tap routing menu. Resolved an A record? Route the IP straight into Ping. Found an open port? Pipe host:port into TLS inspector or HTTP probe. No retyping.
• Cross-app handoff — discovered an SSH service in mDNS, or an open port 22 in a scan? One tap launches Rumskrot Terminal pre-filled. VNC services jump to Rumskrot Remote the same way. Apps not installed? Tap drops you in the App Store.
• Per-tool guide — every tool ships with an inline "About" panel: what it does, when to reach for it, how to read the result. Collapsible — power users dismiss once and the choice sticks.
PERSISTENT, COMPOSABLE, SCRIPTABLE
• Run history — every probe is recorded. Search, recall, re-render, re-run.
• Saved targets — bookmark hosts; pin them to home for one-tap re-runs.
• AppIntents on every tool — drive Beacon from Shortcuts and Siri, organised by category (Audits / Diagnose / DNS / TLS & HTTP / Network / Hub). "Run mailserver health check against acme.com" is one Shortcut.
• Charts — within-run RTT, cross-run RTT trend, per-hop MTR sparklines.
• Tap-to-copy on every IP, hostname, header, and raw record. Per-panel copy buttons for the whole result as text.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
• Everything runs on-device. There is no Beacon backend.
• Zero analytics, zero crash trackers, zero third-party SDKs.
• ASN and WHOIS go directly from your device — no Beacon proxy.
• mDNS / Bonjour discovery is local-network only.
• History and saved targets live in your local SwiftData store.
• No accounts, no sign-up, no email.
MORE FROM RUMSKROT
If you reach for Beacon during outages, you'll probably want the rest of the toolbelt:
• Rumskrot Terminal — full SSH client with tmux, SFTP, Apple Watch, AI command assist
• Rumskrot Remote — remote-desktop control for the Macs and PCs on your network
Both available on the App Store. Beacon hands off to them directly when you discover an SSH or VNC service.
Rumskrot Beacon is free, no IAP, no ads, no premium tier.
