The rule sounds simple, but it is easy to miscalculate: every day you spend in the Schengen Area is checked against the previous 180 days. A short trip from months ago can still affect your next entry, your current stay, or the date you should leave.

If you travel on a short-stay visa, your visa sticker carries its own validity dates, authorised stay and entry count. The app checks a planned trip against those and the 90/180 rule at once.

EES AND ETIAS

Since April 2026, the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) records your entries and exits automatically instead of passport stamps, but it flags overstays at the border rather than helping you plan ahead. ETIAS, arriving later in 2026, is a travel authorisation: it lets you in, but it does not change your 90/180-day limit. Know your numbers before you book, not at the border.
