TERRAFOX: 3D Scanning and Network Documentation for Civil Engineering
TERRAFOX helps companies document cable routes, utility lines, and open trenches directly on site. The app combines 3D scans, photos, project data, and precise positioning information in one guided capture process.
This creates clear, traceable documentation for project teams, site managers, quality assurance teams, and clients.
Capture routes in 3D
Scan cable routes, trench beds, and utility lines using the iPhone’s LiDAR sensor. During capture, the app provides real-time feedback on lighting, movement, distance, and scan quality.
Review scans directly on site
After scanning, TERRAFOX displays an interactive 3D preview. An automatic quality check highlights potential gaps and incomplete areas. This allows you to review and improve the scan while the trench is still open.
Precise positioning with RTK
When used with the TERRAFOX RTK antenna, scans and photos are linked to precise position data. Under optimal conditions, accuracy of up to one centimetre is possible. RTK correction data is provided automatically via NTRIP.
Photo documentation with location data
Add photos to your 3D scans, select the appropriate photo type, and include an optional description. Each photo is uploaded with its corresponding location information.
Display property boundaries
For projects in Germany, ALKIS parcels and official property boundaries can be displayed on the map. Boundary lines can also be shown in the augmented reality view during capture.
Assign data to the correct project
Select projects directly in the app or use a QR code to assign scans and photos to the correct construction site, work package, or internal project reference.
Designed for construction sites
Scans and photos upload in the background without interrupting your workflow. If the connection is poor, the data remains in the upload queue and is transferred automatically once a suitable connection becomes available.
Review data in the TERRAFOX web portal
After upload, authorised project participants can access the data in the TERRAFOX web portal. There they can review 3D models and photos, take measurements, adjust route alignments, and export data for further processing.
For business customers
TERRAFOX is designed for companies working in civil engineering, utility construction, fibre deployment, and network documentation. Access is provided through a contractually agreed onboarding process.
Requirements
A compatible iPhone with a LiDAR sensor is required for 3D scanning and augmented reality features. The designated TERRAFOX RTK antenna is required for precise positioning in production use.
