Out in the paddock instead? Hold it up and pan slowly across the field. Same thing: every animal counted once as it passes.

IT CORRECTS ITSELF Pan back to double-check and the count unwinds instead of doubling. A ewe that balks at the gate and turns around comes straight back off the tally. Count the way you actually move.

COUNT PEOPLE, TOO Scan mode counts people exactly the same way — through a gate, a doorway, or a shed. Handy for a shearing crew, a farm shop, an open day, a market stall, or a school visit.
