On-device redaction for screenshots, IDs, faces, plates, QR codes, and more. One tap to mask private details before you share.
Maskr is the fastest way to blur private information out of any photo before
you share it. Apple Vision finds faces, text, IDs, bank cards, QR codes,
barcodes, and Chinese license plates the moment you open an image — and
Maskr applies the right mask immediately. No more cropping screenshots in
panic. No more wondering whether you actually covered every digit.
Everything happens on your device. Maskr does not upload your photos, does
not record what the OCR pipeline sees, does not run analytics, and does not
embed crash-reporting SDKs that phone home. The privacy label on this
listing is "Data Not Collected" — and we hold ourselves to it.
WHY MASKR
• On-device redaction. Apple Vision plus a sensitive-text rule engine run
entirely on your iPhone or iPad — no server round-trip, no waiting for a
network. Maskr handles 1080×1920 screenshots in well under two seconds on
modern devices.
• Built for screenshots. Phone numbers, emails, IDs, bank cards, addresses,
and order numbers are detected by category so you can mask whole groups
with one tap.
• Smart faces and codes. Vision finds faces (front, profile, and small),
QR codes, and Chinese license plates (regular and NEV). Each region gets
the right mask shape automatically.
• Pick your style. Eight masking styles — black bar, white bar, mosaic,
Gaussian blur, pixelate, solid color, translucent, custom color — with
intensity, corner radius, and expand-ratio sliders.
• Fine-tune with the editor. Pinch to zoom up to 8×, long-press to peek at
the original, draw rectangles or freehand strokes to add or erase masks,
and undo / redo every change.
• Compare before you ship. Side-by-side and stacked sliders let you verify
coverage. A "hide UI" preview button shows exactly what the recipient
will see.
• Save anywhere. Send to Photos, save to Files / iCloud Drive, copy to the
clipboard, share to any app, or export as PDF. EXIF and GPS metadata are
stripped by default. The mask is permanently baked into the pixels.
• Batch mode. Import multiple images at once, apply your default style to
all of them, then save or share the entire batch with a single tap.
• iPad first-class. Drag and drop images from Photos or Files into Maskr in
Split View. Apple Pencil works the way you expect.
• Bilingual. Full English and Simplified Chinese UI, including system
permission prompts and the App Store metadata.
PRIVACY AT THE CORE
• Zero networking. Maskr makes no network requests at runtime. We have no
servers, no telemetry endpoint, and no third-party analytics SDKs.
• Zero persistence of your content. Image bytes only exist in memory while
you are editing. Per-export temporary files are deleted on both success
and cancel paths. The Share Extension inbox is drained and cleared every
launch.
• EXIF and GPS are stripped on export by default — and the mask is
irreversibly burned into the exported pixels, so the redacted output
cannot be reversed back to the original.
• You can read the in-app About → Privacy page for the exact behaviour, or
read PRIVACY_AUDIT.md in our repository for the source-level evidence.
WHO IT'S FOR
Anyone who shares screenshots: customer-support agents, journalists, sales
teams, students sending homework photos, anybody posting a delivery
confirmation or a payment screen on social media. If you have ever opened
the Photos app's markup tool to "scribble out" a phone number, Maskr is
faster, more reliable, and more private.
REQUIREMENTS
iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.0 or later. Maskr is a Universal binary,
optimized for iPad multitasking, dark mode, and Dynamic Type.
Maskr is offered free with no in-app purchases, no ads, no subscriptions,
