THE VISUAL METHOD
Long-press any character on the rice-paper canvas: the kaiti glyph cross-fades into a small narrative scene that reads as both an image and the same set of strokes.
For pictograms (象形字), the picture is a literal rendering — 山 is mountains, 木 is a tree.
For ideograms (会意字), the components interact — 休 (rest) shows a person leaning against a tree, with the 人 and 木 still visible as ink lines.
For phonetic-semantic compounds (形声字, the most common type), the detail page breaks down which component carries the meaning and which carries the sound — the structure that unlocks the next 80% of characters once you see it.
