SpellLogic SpellLogic is an education app with spelling rules, patterns, games and sensory practise to turn tricky English spelling into something learners of all ages actually want to practise. Perfect for school-goers, home educators, and anyone who wants to finally make sense of English spelling. English spelling doesn't have to be a mystery. SpellLogic breaks it down into 78 patterns across five levels so learners can build real confidence, one rule at a time.

DYSLEXIA-FRIENDLY Designed with dyslexia in mind, SpellLogic is structured, cumulative, focussed on common patterns, vowel sounds and spelling rules. Each pattern practices one specific target e.g. words ending in 'ck' or words with 'ph'. This approach builds confidence, promotes a positive learning experience and a good chance for a feeling of success. Elements of English spelling are gradually introduced from CVC words and short vowel sounds to more complex long vowel patterns, words with silent letters, multi-syllabic words and an awareness of morphology with prefixes and suffixes. Audio buttons accompany all texts. Users can set their preferences within 'Profile', including text size, British or American spelling and use of a reading ruler. Users are always positively encouraged and rewarded with the aim to make the process of improving spelling a fun experience. SpellLogic encourages mastery and over-learning, while keeping learners engaged with this multi-sensory programme.

HANDWRITING Throughout the app, there are opportunities for learners to practice handwriting (with a stylus or a finger) either to practice an error they have made or just for fun in the Listen.Write.Draw. activity. More and more research is showing the importance of handwriting words to reinforce spelling and aid our memory. SpellLogic incorporates handwriting in a creative way, understanding that there is no need to practice spellings you already know - just focus on the tricky ones.

MORPHOLOGY Words are presented in the context of sentences throughout 'Spelling Practice'. Level 4 also introduces the morphology of English and how words are built, before putting emphasis on words with prefixes and suffixes. One of the optional games 'Word Detective', tests comprehension of these more complex words. SpellLogic recognises the importance of understanding how a word is formed, what is the root or base word and, if it applies, what rule goes with it.

SpellLogic In A Nutshell -Consolidate your knowledge of common patterns and rules and have some fun along the way. -Opt to take a Quick Skills Check before you start and maybe you can skip Level 1 and unlock Level 2 to start. Retake the Quick Skills Check (with random word selection) any time from 'Profile'. -Complete a spelling pattern and reward yourself with a fun game, such as Goose Chase or Goose Pop. -Use the canvas provided to handwrite tricky words and engage the brain more deeply than typing a word. This enhances neural connections to improve retention of spellings. -SpellLogic encourages mastery of skills. Errors are tracked in 'My Targets' and users are encouraged to practice weaker patterns in a very targeted way. Practise difficult spellings with activities such as Jumbled Letters, Listen.Write.Draw and Missing Letters. You can repeat sessions as many times as you wish. -Try the 'Spelling Showcase' at the end of each level and earn stars to unlock a new game. -Create a 'Custom List' to practice your own spellings. Practice them through playing the fun games and activities. -Improve your knowledge of vowel sounds and tricky vowel patterns. Vowels can be very challenging in English spelling. -Sign up in 'Profile' to get regular updates on your target spellings and corresponding rules. Coupled with the 'Rules Book' in the app, this can be an excellent resource for parents and tutors. -Stay motivated as you earn stars, unlock avatars, and track your own progress. -Practice anywhere, anytime and sync between devices in 'Profile'.
