Features & Capabilities

New: live vessel traffic (AIS) for Tournament captains, a compass that snaps you back to north-up, and a map timeline that reads in your own timezone.

BreakIQ turns free NOAA and Copernicus satellite oceanography into species-specific hotspot predictions for offshore pelagic captains fishing the US East Coast and Gulf of Mexico.

Every morning, BreakIQ ingests the latest sea-surface temperature, chlorophyll, sea-surface height, and wind and wave data, then scores the water for eight tournament species — blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, yellowfin, bigeye, bluefin, mahi-mahi, and wahoo — using habitat models built from peer-reviewed literature. You get a map you can read at a glance and daily fishing-recommendation pins that tell you where to start.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Sea-surface temperature and SST-break (front strength) layers to find the temperature edges
  • Chlorophyll and chlorophyll-front layers to find the color change and the bait
  • Sea-surface-height and current layers, plus warm- and cold-core eddy pins
  • Weed lines (Sargassum) and 30 m subsurface temperature
  • Depth contours and named offshore canyons with search
  • Gulf Stream frontal position
  • Species-specific habitat-suitability heatmaps
  • A 3-day habitat outlook, so you can plan the run instead of only reacting to today
  • Tap any point on the map for the exact conditions there

LOG YOUR CATCHES, SHARPEN THE MODEL Log a catch in a couple of taps, on the water or off, with or without signal. BreakIQ records the conditions at the moment of the catch and uses your history to tune tomorrow's prediction. Your data is private by default — we never expose your GPS to other captains.

BUILT FOR THE WAY YOU FISH

  • Works offline past cell coverage with downloadable map regions
  • Runs on your phone — no satellite receiver or extra hardware required
  • Trip tracking, personal history and replay, and one-tap GPX waypoint export to your Garmin, Simrad, Raymarine, or Furuno chartplotter
  • Personalized daily reports written from the day's conditions and your target species

ACCURACY IS THE PRODUCT BreakIQ never invents numbers. Predictions come from oceanographic models, not guesswork, and when data is stale or missing, we say so. We hold ourselves to a public accuracy standard.

BreakIQ is built for tournament and offshore captains who make real decisions on real water. Tight lines.

Some premium layers and reports require a Captain or Tournament subscription.
