GridSentinel gives your home battery a smarter way to respond to Amber Electric’s wholesale electricity prices.

Instead of manually watching prices and guessing what to do next, GridSentinel watches the 5-minute buy and feed-in prices for you. It can charge when power is cheap, export when prices spike, hold stored energy for later, or curtail exports when feed-in prices go negative.

You can let the forecast optimiser make the decisions, or set your own rules if you prefer to stay in control. Either way, GridSentinel keeps working in the background, so your battery can respond without you constantly checking the app.

And it does not hide what it is doing. Every decision includes a plain-English reason, so you can see what changed, why it changed, and what your battery is doing next.

What it does

• Buys low, sells high. Charges when prices are low and exports into price spikes, while respecting the reserve you want to keep.

• Helps avoid negative feed-in prices. When feed-in prices go negative, GridSentinel can curtail exports where your battery supports it, helping you avoid exporting at a loss.

• Saves energy for when it matters. Instead of reacting to every small price rise, GridSentinel can hold stored energy for periods where it is likely to be worth more.

• Runs on forecasts or your own rules. Use the forecast optimiser, create Smart Rules, or keep it simple with Basic Rules.

• Manual override when you need it. Force export, charge, curtail, or self-consume for 15, 30, or 60 minutes.

• Price history and forecast. See today’s actual prices alongside Amber’s forecast, with your battery’s actions marked on the chart.

• A reason for every decision. A live decision feed explains each change in plain English, so your battery’s behaviour is never a mystery.

• Earnings estimates. View daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time estimated earnings based on battery telemetry, Amber prices, and the decisions GridSentinel actually made.

Subscription

GridSentinel is a paid subscription, available monthly or yearly, with a 1-month free trial. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.

Requires a GridSentinel subscription, an active Amber Electric account, and a supported home battery. Australia only.
