Sail Dash is a two-device coaching dashboard for dinghy training. It supports Optimist, ILCA/Laser, 420, 29er, Topper, RS Feva and more.

ON THE BOAT The sailor's phone becomes an instrument panel — big, monospaced readouts of speed, heading, bearing, VMG, and distance to the next mark. Numbers are sized for arm's-length legibility, the screen stays bright and awake, and recording keeps running in the background even with the screen off or the phone stowed for the whole session.

ON THE RIB The coach sees every sailor in the session on one screen: live speeds, headings, and tile colours that match each sailor's sail number. Set the course at the RIB's position — windward/leeward, triangle, or a custom layout with start, top, bottom and wing marks. Capture the wind direction by pointing the bow into the wind and confirming. Trigger a 5/3/1-minute start sequence with a flag-coloured countdown banner and audible beeps on every device, then run a race timer that detects mark roundings and finishes automatically.

COACH BROADCASTS Canned messages — STARTING SOON, REGROUP AT RIB, FOLLOW ME — hit every sailor's device with a full-screen banner and audio ping. Quick-tag notes (TACK, GYBE, POOR ANGLE, GOOD VMG, WIND SHIFT, CAPSIZE) log silently to the session timeline for review.

SESSION REVIEW After the session, map every sailor's track with peak and average speeds, detected tacks and gybes, and leg-by-leg progress. With a mark or wind capture set, get upwind/downwind VMG and tack-loss analysis. Speed chart layers all sailors together. Annotations and coach notes pin to the timeline, and past sessions stay available for later review.

BUILT FOR ON-WATER USE Works offline — sessions upload when the phone reconnects, and a session in progress survives the app closing and resumes when you reopen it. Audio cuts through the silent switch so timer beeps are never missed. Dark and light instrument themes.
