Features & Capabilities

A new word every morning, gently picked for your child's age. No ads, no tracking — every lesson lives on the iPad. Family Plus unlocks more children and richer voices.

LeafWord is a calm, private vocabulary app for children ages 4 to 12. Every morning your child opens the app and finds one carefully chosen word — its meaning, an example sentence in friendly language, and a small fun fact about the way it sounds or feels.

A WORD A DAY, PICKED FOR YOUR CHILD'S AGE LeafWord chooses each day's word from a hand-curated kids dictionary, sized to your child's reading level. The 4–6 band sticks to small, kind words like "joyful" and "gentle." The 7–9 band reaches for "curious" and "courageous." The 10–12 band pushes into "immaculate," "ecstatic," and "ephemeral" — words that stretch a confident reader without leaving them behind.

Every meaning, every sentence, and every fun fact is hand-verified before it ships. Nothing is generated on the fly, nothing is wrong by accident, and nothing changes between offline and online.

CALM. NOT GAMIFIED. No ads. No analytics. No tracking. No mascot shouting at your child to come back. Just one quiet word, a speaker button to hear it read aloud, and a gentle weekly garden that grows a leaf each day your child taps "I remembered."

The home screen shows the word in serif type, the sentence in italic, and a sage-and-cream palette designed for early mornings before school.

PRIVACY THAT IS REAL, NOT MARKETING Everything in LeafWord lives on your iPad. Profiles, learning history, streaks, and preferences never leave the device. The dictionary is bundled inside the app — no internet needed for daily use. We have no servers, no third-party SDKs, and no advertising partners. The privacy story is the product.

FAMILY PLUS — OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION Free LeafWord includes one child profile, the full daily-word experience, recall, and the weekly garden. Family Plus unlocks:

• Up to 4 child profiles, each with their own garden and history • "Advanced vocabulary" mode that reaches for the most ambitious upgrade pairs the age band can carry (clean → immaculate, glad → ecstatic) • Premium voices via your own ElevenLabs or Google Cloud Text-to-Speech key (the key stays in your iPad's Keychain — never sent to us)

Family Plus pricing: • Monthly: $3.99 / month • Annual: $24.99 / year (about $2.08 per month) with a 7-day free trial

You can cancel any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

DESIGNED FOR PARENTS WHO CARE ABOUT EVERY DETAIL A quiet math problem protects Settings and any external links so a young child can't accidentally change things. The app supports both iPhone and iPad, with a layout tuned for each. Nothing is loud. Nothing is rushed.

REAL DICTIONARY, REAL TEACHING Every entry was hand-checked: the meaning is the actual definition, the example sentence demonstrates the word in the same sense the meaning describes, and fun facts only mention things we know to be true. We never invent etymology. We never confuse "lively" with "energetic" in the example. If we are not sure, we leave it out.
