Beautiful HackerNews Reader
LiquidNews is a Hacker News client built entirely around iOS 26's Liquid Glass design language. Every surface uses the system's real glass material — no opaque panels, no fake blurs — for a reading experience that feels like part of the OS.
THE FEED
Top, New, Ask HN, Show HN, Jobs and more, organised into switchable categories. A pill-shaped chip picker slides away as you scroll and collapses into a compact menu. Tap, swipe-left and swipe-right actions are all independently configurable.
BUILT FOR IPAD
A three-column layout puts your feeds, the story list and the discussion side by side. Drag the divider to size each column exactly how you like it.
PICK UP ANYWHERE
Handoff and iCloud keep you in sync across devices — start reading on your iPhone and continue on your iPad, or have LiquidNews reopen your last story the moment you launch it.
COMMENTS DONE RIGHT
Threads load lazily, so even 500-comment discussions open instantly instead of freezing. The header shows score, comment count and author, with "Also Discussed on HN" surfacing other threads about the same link. Signed-in users can upvote, reply, and flag inline.
THREE WAYS TO READ
- Reader: clean article extraction powered by Mozilla's Readability.js, with improved image handling
- Browser: a full in-app web view
- Safari: hand off to your browser
Set a default once, or open any single article a different way with a long-press.
READ OFFLINE
Heading somewhere without signal? "Frequent Flyer" downloads the top stories and their comment threads for the feeds you choose, so the discussion stays with you. Optional background prefetch quietly keeps things warm over Wi-Fi.
CURATED
A dedicated tab that pulls together hand-picked sources — the Hacker Newsletter plus any custom JSON feeds you add — into one chronological list, with per-source filtering.
CATCH-UP
Browse the top or most recent stories from any date range using HN Search. Perfect for catching up after time away without scrolling forever.
KEEP TRACK
- Read Later: bookmark stories for later
- Favourites: a long-term collection, separate from read-later
- History: automatic read tracking, with configurable behaviour when you open a story
SHARE EXTENSION
Send links from Safari and other apps straight into LiquidNews.
MADE TO BE YOURS
Almost everything is configurable: gesture actions, default reading mode, history behaviour, categories, offline downloads, themes and more. Guided tips point out gestures and hidden features as you go.
