FASTING AND ABSTINENCE Three penance disciplines: the 1962 norms, the 1917 Code of Canon Law (with Ember Day fasts, vigil fasts, and Saturday Lenten abstinence), and the stricter pre-Pius XII observance (with Advent fasting and no upper age limit).
