User Reviews

User reviews consistently highlight durable positives like easy navigation when the app functions, strong mobile check deposit, good local support, and a broad transaction set. However, the majority warn of frequent sign-in/authentication problems, reliability issues, and a clunky UI—often worsened by updates. Check deposit processes and security features are common pain points. Overall, solid local banking support contrasts with persistent app instability and usability flaws.
Pros
  • Easy to use and navigate for personal banking when the app works
  • Mobile check deposit feature is strong and convenient
  • Helpful local bank staff with a dependable reputation
  • Broad range of transactions available in the app
Cons
  • Frequent sign-in/authentication problems (biometrics, passwords, OTP)
  • Unreliable/unstable performance (crashes, being signed out, not available)
  • Clunky UI/UX and poor usability on iPad or after recent redesign
  • Check deposit flow issues (verification problems, deposits not clearly visible, speed concerns)
  • Security features lacking or misaligned (need for 2FA; biometrics not supported on some devices)

This bank has gone down hill since 2017, I used to work here and they have just never been able to get the app right, which is crazy because it’s not that hard to build a simple interface and plug in the API for their credit card, which is my problem. Multiple times in the last few years the credit card balance and payment due is just not available, you either have to dig for it or the app section just isn’t there. I requested paper statements, and just like the last new credit card to replace my expired card, they won’t mail it to my correct legal address on file, they keep mailing it to a 3yo address, it took MONTHS to get a new credit card. I’ve told them about it, they fix it once, then it reverts. Now I have a late payment, late fees, and a negative mark on my credit card that BTC will likely never fix. I’m just going to transfer my balance and stop using this card, it doesn’t even offer good perks, it’s just connected to my regular checking, which I’m about to change soon too.

Basic and uncomfortable interface. I would change banks to get away from this app if I didn’t like the people in my home town bank. It barely works on iPad, and only portrait mode. Forget about TouchID log-in on your iPad, but remember the upper right ‘Continue’ link if you use it at all. Don’t expect info on much beyond your checking or savings accounts, you’ll need to go elsewhere to find mention of rates or CDs. I’ve been trying to get comfortable with this since mid-October. I still love BankersTrust, but this mobile app stinks.
