• Apple system voice or optional Voxtral voice rendering

Hike Buddy remains useful without an external AI service. Apple Intelligence can enrich stories on compatible devices, or you can connect your own OpenAI-compatible provider with your own API key. Keys are stored in the iOS Keychain.

Routes, coordinates and narration history remain on your iPhone. Optional providers receive only the context required for the feature you choose to use.
