Choose Amharic or Afaan Oromo and switch whenever you want. Koko teaches native writing, an approachable pronunciation guide, and a clear English meaning together. Amharic lessons support Ethiopic script; Afaan Oromo lessons use Qubee and verified learning sources.

Replay words and phrases, slow them down when audio is available, and review vocabulary as it becomes due. Your lesson progress, streak, and saved words make the next practice session easy to find.

PRACTICE REAL MOMENTS

After you complete the matching unit, Practice Chat lets you work through guided situations using the language you have learned. Type or dictate a reply, see supportive corrections, and keep the conversation moving.

COLLECT WORDS AROUND YOU

Use Word Scan to choose an everyday object from a photo and learn its Amharic or Afaan Oromo word. Koko prefers its human-reviewed vocabulary collection. When that collection has a gap, Koko generates a translation and lets you flag the object, word, or language style. Koko sends only the selected subject and a smaller context image when you submit the scan.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Koko requires no account. Lesson progress, preferences, vocabulary, and streaks stay on your device and do not sync between devices in version 1.0. Practice Chat and Word Scan are optional; Koko processes the text or selected image only when you use those tools. You can delete local learning data and Koko’s unlinked online-service identity from Settings.
