Révéler: Film Camera Darkroom

Reveal something real

Features & Capabilities

The photos that matter deserve a slower camera. Tap the shutter and watch your frame emerge in a virtual darkroom. One frame at a time. Free forever.

Révéler is a camera for the photos that matter.

While every other camera app races to capture more — bursts, AI auto-enhance, presets stacked on presets — Révéler does something else. It hands you one frame at a time, then reveals it to you in a virtual darkroom.

THE DEVELOP BATH Tap the shutter and your photo emerges from paper-white over six quiet seconds. Highlights come up first, then midtones, then the shadows resolve into focus. Tap to agitate the fluid. Swipe down to lift the print early. Long-press to study the frame mid-development. It's the signature moment of the app — and the reason this exists.

FIVE HAND-MODELED FILM STOCKS Each one has its own grain, tone curve, and color response, tuned from the real emulsions:

• Portra 400 — warm, forgiving, made for weddings • Tri-X 400 — high-contrast B&W, photojournalism • Ektachrome 100 — saturated daylight slide film • Cinestill 800T — tungsten-balanced, neon nightlife • Ilford HP5+ — forgiving B&W, street

Every stock has a card in the in-app Knowledge Center with its history — who shot it, when it was discontinued (or not), why people loved it.

ONE FRAME AT A TIME No burst mode. No pre-capture filters. A soft 24-frames-per-day cap, on by default, dismissable in Settings — the size of a roll of film, because intention is the whole point.

PRO TOOLS, HIDDEN UNTIL YOU REACH FOR THEM The full lens picker (.5×, 1×, 2×, 3×, 5× where your device has them). Six aspect ratios from square to anamorphic 2.35:1. Five composition grids, an artificial horizon, a quiet shutter, a 3 / 10-second self timer. Manual ISO, shutter, exposure compensation, and focus dials with haptic detents. An Ansel Adams zone meter projected onto the live preview — a histogram is for amateurs; a zone meter is what serious photographers actually want. Double exposure, long exposure, hardware Camera Control button and volume-key capture, face-tracking autofocus, tap-to-focus, long-press AE/AF lock, pinch-to-zoom.

ROLLS AND THE CONTACT SHEET Optionally group frames into named sessions — "Tokyo, April," "Sunday walks" — so a day's photography lives together. The library renders as a darkroom proof print: thumbnails on paper, frame numbers stamped below, exportable to PDF.

SIRI, SPOTLIGHT, DYNAMIC ISLAND Four Siri shortcuts — "Open Révéler camera," "Start a new roll called Tokyo," and more. The develop bath shows its progress in the Dynamic Island, so you can leave the app and come back. Roll names land in Spotlight search.

FREE FOREVER No subscription. No in-app purchases. No ads. No analytics, no crash reports, no telemetry of any kind. Put the phone in airplane mode and everything in Révéler still works — because nothing ever leaves your device.

Révéler exists so you take more meaningful photos.
