Where Books Connect & Inspire
Emprinte is a mobile reading app built for African readers and reading communities. It combines a personal PDF reading space with community and accountability features. The app is guest-first: people can read and use core personal tools without an account; full community are for signed-in members with an active subscription.
Core reading experience
PDF reading — upload and read PDFs (no DOCX), with progress and a focused reader environment.
Reader tools — highlights (multiple colours), bookmarks, and notes tied to the book or selection.
Text selection actions — turn selections into highlights, private notes, or (for members) quotes shared to the community where supported.
Layout and comfort — controls such as font size, scroll style, themes (e.g. light / dark / paper-style options), and text-to-speech from the reader.
Local-first for guests — guests keep reading data on the device; members can sync reading data, notes, and related activity to the cloud.
Home — personal reading dashboard
Reading streak and simple reading stats (e.g. time spent today, progress toward goals).
Reading goal — set a goal in pages or minutes, track progress, and get a completion flow when the goal is met.
To Do — weekly/daily task lists with dates; a home bar surfacing the next task.
Growth Tracker — entry point to quarterly / weekly / daily growth tracking (deeper screens in the tracker area).
Reading schedule — for members, surfacing admin-set weekly reading plans on Home when available.
Explore — discovery, learning, and library
My Notes — free-form notes and notes linked to highlights.
My Books — personal library, uploads, and book detail flows.
Bootcamps — discover bootcamps, join flows, and bootcamp home / check-in / feed style experiences for structured cohort reading.
Challenges — discover challenges; members can request to join; admins approve.
Build A Reader and similar cards — links out to external initiatives where the product does not handle donations in-app.
Community — together reading
Community feed and forum — posts, pins, media, saves, and reactions as designed for the product.
Reading rooms — scheduled room-style reading; members can request new rooms; admins manage scheduling and approval.
Weekly reviews — tied to the reading schedule model.
Review quotes — surfaced from weekly review sessions.
Accountability partner — admin-assigned pairing with nudges and shared To Do style flows where implemented.
Profile and settings
Profile — identity (e.g. @username), badges, book counts, and access to a settings hub.
Admin experience — for admin users, an admin panel replaces or augments the normal profile area to manage members, content, events, schedules, rooms, challenges, notifications, and moderation.
Cross-cutting product behaviour
Offline and low connectivity — retries, caching, and queues for key member flows (e.g. annotations, streak-related updates) where the app is built to support them.
Push notifications — where enabled, for reminders and product-relevant alerts, with permission checks before registration.
User types (how access is framed)
Guest — read, highlight, notes, To Do, goals, streaks.
Member — account + subscription (when active): cloud sync, community, rooms, bootcamps (as included), challenges, tracker, accountability, schedule-driven features.
