Traverse Bible is a free Bible study app for iPhone. Read Scripture, compare translations, study Hebrew and Greek, follow cross-references, explore trusted reference works, and keep your notes together in one place.

The built-in study library works offline. Recorded audio, commentaries, and biblical place photographs are available as optional downloads and remain accessible offline after installation.

• Bible Translations: Read 12 English translations spanning the 1599 Geneva Bible to the 2023 Berean Standard Bible. Switch editions without losing your place or compare a verse across the translations that contain it. Book coverage varies by edition. • Audio Bibles: Download seven recorded readings covering the KJV, ASV, WEB, Douay-Rheims, Berean Standard Bible, 1 Enoch, and Jubilees. Verse highlighting follows the recording as it plays. Includes lock-screen controls, adjustable speed, and a sleep timer. Recorded coverage varies by reading. On-device text-to-speech is also available for every bundled English Bible text. • Hebrew and Greek: Study the Westminster Leningrad Codex for the Hebrew and Aramaic Old Testament, the Greek Septuagint, and your choice of the SBL Greek New Testament or Byzantine Majority Text. Transliteration, meanings, and grammatical details are shown where available. • Strong’s and Lexicons: Tap linked Hebrew and Greek words to see definitions, related forms, grammatical information, and occurrences throughout Scripture. Sources include Strong’s, Thayer’s, Brown-Driver-Briggs, Abbott-Smith, and LSJ. • Commentaries: Download nine commentary and study-note sources tied to the verses they discuss. The collection includes Matthew Henry, Adam Clarke, John Gill, Keil and Delitzsch, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, Spurgeon’s Treasury of David, Haydock’s Catholic Commentary, Tyndale Open Study Notes, and R. H. Charles’s notes on 1 Enoch and Jubilees. Coverage varies by source. • Cross-References: Follow more than 340,000 links between related passages. You can also see which other passages point back to the verse you are reading. • People, Places, and Maps: Explore more than 4,000 biblical people and places. Entries can include name meanings, family relationships, Scripture references, and material from biblical dictionaries and encyclopedias. Selected places can be opened in Apple Maps and have optional downloadable photographs. • Topics: Browse thousands of subjects from Nave’s Topical Bible and Torrey’s New Topical Textbook. When available, you can also open topics connected to the verse you are reading. • Search: Search every bundled English Bible text at once, along with lexicons, people, places, topics, and your own notes. Matching terms are highlighted in verse results. • Bookmarks, Notes, and Tags: Create color-coded bookmarks, formatted notes, and custom tags. Saved items remain on your device. When iCloud is available, they can sync through your private iCloud account. You can also create a backup file or export your notes to Markdown. • Reading History: Retrace your reading and return to recently viewed passages. • Enoch, Jubilees, and Baruch: Read English editions of 1 Enoch, Jubilees, and the Rest of the Words of Baruch. The Ge’ez texts of 1 Enoch and Jubilees are included with transliteration, along with the ancient Greek text of the Rest of the Words of Baruch. • Apocrypha: Read editions containing the traditional 14-book KJV Apocrypha, the Douay-Rheims deuterocanonical books, Brenton’s Septuagint, and the 81-book World English Bible edition.

Traverse Bible has no ads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, tracking, or separate app account. A connection is needed only for optional downloads, iCloud sync, and opening locations in Apple Maps.
