Finger ink: dim, bright, GIF
MuteInk: near-black ink—private. Blind or screen-off writing keeps you in flow. Lift ends char; 2-finger undo; 3-finger newline. Bright: effects + GIF. Replay in Review.
MuteInk is a finger-writing notebook built to catch ideas before they slip away. Write on a near-black, very dim “blind” screen when you want fewer visual distractions—you don’t have to watch the display, so it’s easier to stay in flow. Switch to bright mode when you want to see every stroke and layout clearly.
It’s for moments when you want words out of your head before they vanish, without a keyboard or a harsh UI: late-night fragments, ideas on the move, or any time you need a quiet, low-glare way to capture text.
How to write
• Draw strokes with one finger.
• When you lift your finger, if no new stroke starts for about 0.3 seconds, the current character is finalized automatically.
• Two-finger tap: delete the previous character.
• Three-finger tap: start a new line and end the current sentence (your progress is saved).
• Before you begin, pick portrait or landscape: portrait suits scripts like Chinese or Japanese; landscape suits left-to-right writing such as English. You can change orientation anytime and start a fresh session afterward.
Haptics
• On supported iPhones, you get distinct haptics when a character finishes, when a sentence ends, and when a save completes. iPad may not vibrate; it depends on the device.
Bright mode, motion, and sharing
• In bright mode, strokes can play with animated effects.
• Export your writing as a GIF—with options like transparency and custom accent or text colors—save to Photos, or share.
• Copy the note as an image for use in other apps.
Review and organize
• Open Review to browse saved notes and replay every stroke.
• Delete entries or reorder the list so your ideas are easy to find later.
Privacy and data
• Notes stay on your device. No account is required, and the app does not sync your handwriting to our servers.
• Dim-screen writing can reduce how much others can see on your display; your environment and habits still matter.
Other notes
• Blind mode keeps the display awake for continuous capture; watch battery level. If power is very low, the app exits blind mode and uses haptics to nudge you so brightness and auto-lock behave normally again.
Requirements: iOS 17.0 or later. Works on iPhone and iPad.
