IronScope uses your iPhone's built-in magnetometer to show nearby magnetic-field changes in microteslas (µT). It is a phone magnetometer field meter for close-range ferromagnetic objects, learning, and everyday curiosity. It is not a professional metal detector and must not be used for security screening, mining, infrastructure locating, or safety decisions.

HOW IT WORKS The iPhone magnetometer reads the ambient magnetic field. IronScope subtracts your calibrated baseline, often near Earth's natural 25–65 µT range, and shows nearby changes as excess signal. Readings vary by phone model, orientation, calibration, cases, magnets, and nearby electronics.

LIMITATIONS Smartphone magnetometers are not professional metal detectors. Non-magnetic metals such as aluminum and copper may not change the reading. Deep or hidden objects are not reliable targets. Keep the phone away from strong magnets that could affect device sensors.

PRIVACY Magnetometer readings are processed locally. No audio, video, location, analytics, ads, account, or tracking is used.
