PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your card numbers and PINs are sensitive. Card numbers are encrypted on your device before they back up, so the copies on our servers are unreadable to us, and your PIN stays in the iOS Keychain, never in that backup. Two features are the exception, and you choose both: adding a card to Apple Wallet builds the pass on our server, and sending a card as a gift wraps it in a sealed package only your recipient can open. Scanning is its own choice: by default the card photo goes to a secure cloud AI for accuracy, a switch on the camera keeps any single scan on your iPhone, and a Settings default makes on-device the standard if you prefer. We do not track you across other apps, and we do not sell your data.
