Forest Express, which is developed by Educational Psychology Service (New Territories West) Section, Education Bureau of Hong Kong SAR, is designed for schools or educational organizations. It is an interactively digital game app that upgrades the gameplay of classic board game ‘Snakes and Ladders’, which integrates instructional elements of social communication and emotional regulation into assisting instructors in training students’ social adaptation skills in a vivid and engaging way.
Game Features
• Edutainment-based Game System: It supports 2 to 6 players simultaneously, competing to reach the finish line by rolling dice. The game features the mechanism of ‘Zebra Crossing and Ladders’ and ‘Roadblock Traps’, equivalent to ‘ladders’ and ‘snakes’ in ‘Snakes and Ladders’ and adds random incident cards such as ‘Green Light Day’ and ‘Major Traffic Jam’, as well as interesting items like ‘Speed Cake’ and ‘Conductor’s Whistle’, greatly enhancing classroom engagement.
Professional and Flexible Teaching Question Banks
• Built-in Question Banks: It pre-sets ‘Emotion’ and ‘Communication’ themes, with difficulty levels categorized into primary and secondary school levels. The questions cover situational responses (e.g., handling emotional reactions to tardiness). Students can earn prop rewards by answering correctly, and related designs are ready to use, reducing the preparation workload for support personnel.
• Situational Questions and Answers: When players remain in the ‘Question Zone’, they are required to answer questions (e.g., ‘What emotions do you have when a friend is late?’). With correct answers, prop rewards will be granted.
Individual Goals
• Unique Individual Task System: Instructors can set individual goals for each student (e.g., talking in a friendly manner, sitting properly, participating actively, etc.). The system will automatically activate task checks during gameplay, allowing instructors to tailor individual goals based on each student’s needs.
