Trace — Fanfiction Library

Trace is a private fanfiction library for keeping track of what you saved, where you stopped, what you dropped, and what you want to find again.

Use Trace to organize AO3, FanFiction.net, and manually added fanfiction from other sites in one place.

Library and organization • Save works in your personal library with reading status, chapter progress, notes, personal tags, and ratings. • Search and filter across fandoms, relationships, tags, status, source, and more. • Keep AO3 and FanFiction.net reading together instead of splitting your memory across archives.

Safari extension • Use Trace while browsing AO3 and FanFiction.net in Safari. • See whether supported works are already saved, what reading status they have, and how far you got. • Add supported works from listing and story pages. • Change reading status from the archive page: Planning, Reading, Paused, Completed, or Dropped. • Hide works from Trace’s browsing overlay and undo in place if you change your mind. • Track chapter progress automatically while you read.

Progress and notes • Pick up from the chapter you left on. • Add notes, tags, ratings, and context so you remember why a fic mattered. • Manually adjust progress in the app when needed.

Stats and sharing • See reading stats tailored to your library. • Share recommendations as plain text or Markdown using filters and tags.

Privacy Trace does not host or mirror story content. The extension reads visible story metadata from supported AO3 and FanFiction.net pages you open so it can save and update your library. It does not ask for AO3 or FanFiction.net passwords, does not request browser cookie permissions, and does not store story text.
