재난톡

JaenanTok is an emergency messenger that exchanges messages with people nearby over Bluetooth alone — no internet, no cellular network.

Features

• Bluetooth mesh network — no internet required • Multi-hop relay — carries messages to users beyond direct range (opt-in from Settings; off by default) • Channel group chat — public Lobby, Emergency channel, and password-protected channels • One-to-one direct messages (DM) — the recipient must accept before a conversation begins. A request shows only the sender's nickname and ID, the content stays hidden until accepted, and Decline and Block persist across app restarts. There is no random matching and no stranger pairing. • SOS — one-touch emergency alert including your GPS location • Quick emergency messages — one tap to send "Need help", "Injured", "Trapped", and more

Encryption

• One-to-one DM — Noise Protocol XX end-to-end encryption. Devices relaying the message cannot read it. • Password channels — AES-256-GCM. Only participants who know the password can read them. • Public channels (Lobby, Emergency) — open conversations anyone can join, so they are not encrypted. SOS requests travel through the Emergency channel and must be readable by nearby devices to be actionable.

When to use it

• Earthquakes, typhoons, floods, and other disasters that disable communication infrastructure • Mountains, basements, tunnels, and other places with poor reception • Power outages that take base stations offline • Large events where offline coordination is needed

Privacy

• No server — all data stays on your device • No sign-up or login — usable the moment it is installed • No personal data collected — only your nickname and messages are stored on the device • Location — included only when you choose to send an SOS or share your location, delivered over Bluetooth only, never uploaded or stored off your device

How it works

JaenanTok forms a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh network. It automatically finds and connects to nearby JaenanTok users and relays messages up to seven hops. Range depends on your devices and surroundings, and grows as more people join.

암호화

• 1:1 DM — Noise Protocol XX 종단간 암호화. 중간에서 릴레이하는 기기도 내용을 볼 수 없습니다. • 비밀번호 채널 — AES-256-GCM. 비밀번호를 아는 참여자만 읽을 수 있습니다. • 공개 채널(로비, 긴급) — 누구나 참여할 수 있는 공개 대화이므로 암호화되지 않습니다. SOS 구조 요청도 긴급 채널로 전송되며, 구조를 위해 주변 기기가 읽을 수 있어야 합니다.

개인정보 보호

• 서버 없음 — 모든 데이터는 기기에만 저장 • 가입/로그인 불필요 — 설치 즉시 사용 • 개인정보 수집 없음 — 닉네임과 메시지만 기기에 저장 • 위치 — SOS나 위치 공유를 사용자가 직접 보낼 때만 메시지에 포함되고 블루투스로만 전달됩니다. 서버로 전송되거나 저장되지 않습니다.

작동 방식

재난톡은 블루투스 저에너지(BLE) 메시 네트워크를 구성합니다. 주변의 재난톡 사용자를 자동으로 찾아 연결하고, 메시지를 최대 7단계까지 릴레이합니다. 도달 거리는 기기와 주변 환경에 따라 달라지며, 사용자가 많을수록 넓어집니다.
