Ether is dating without the filters. Instead of a grid of curated photos, everyone's profile starts with a short video intro — because the way someone speaks, laughs and carries themselves tells you more in ten seconds than a dozen still images ever could.

HOW IT WORKS

Browse the Discover feed straight away. Every profile is a video — real faces, real voices, and every one of them age-verified. A face on camera is the one thing a bot can't fake, so that's all you'll find here: no photo grids, no catfish, no endless swiping.

When you're ready, record your own ten-second intro — answer a rotating prompt, or freestyle. Retake as often as you like; only the one you send counts. Go live for the window you choose, 3, 7 or 14 days, and pause whenever you want.

Spark someone you like, with a short video reaction if you want to stand out. When a reaction is accepted, either way round, the chat opens.

Every region has its own page on The Map showing how close it is to coming alive. The first fifty people live in each region are its Founding Fifty, and that number stays on your profile.

WHAT MAKES ETHER DIFFERENT

• Video-first: no airbrushed photo grids, no copy-paste bios • Age-verified: every account passes a facial age check. No ID needed, and the selfie is deleted straight after • Safety-led: every upload is checked for explicit material before it goes live, and hash-matched against known child abuse imagery with Microsoft PhotoDNA. Confirmed matches go to the NCA's CEOP and to NCMEC • No feed trickery: intros are ordered by how recent and how close they are, shaped by your filters • No padding: if your area is still early, we say so, with the real numbers, and tell you the moment someone new goes live

PRIVACY AND TRUST

• Your recording stays private until you go live, and your intro comes down when its window ends or when you take it down • All media lives on private, signed-URL storage — not indexable, not scrapable, not shareable outside the app • We're UK-based, under UK GDPR, the Online Safety Act 2023 and Irish law for our members in Ireland • Export your data or delete your account any time from Settings > Privacy Centre. Deletion removes everything after a seven-day grace period

PRICING

Ether is completely free right now — browsing, intros, sparks and chat. No paywalls, no subscriptions, no coins. We'd rather you spend your energy on people, not purchases.
