In Korea the answer is saju (사주) — a way of reading people used for a thousand years, and still the first thing many Koreans reach for to explain themselves. Astrology sorts everyone into twelve signs. Saju starts from the exact day you were born, and the hour if you know it, and builds eight characters that belong to you alone: saju palja (사주팔자), four pillars, eight characters.

Moonlight Story calculates them the way a Korean reader would, then explains every one in plain language.

YOUR EIGHT CHARACTERS, EXPLAINED Four pillars — year, month, day, hour — each written with two characters, each carrying one of the twelve zodiac animals you may already know.

Your ilgan (일간), the day master: the one character that stands for you, and the anchor everything else is measured against.

Your five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, water (오행) — counted, so you can see which you have in abundance and which you were born short of.

Your yongsin (용신), the element that steadies a chart like yours, with the colours, direction and numbers that carry it — the part Koreans actually use day to day.

Your sipsin (십신) and sinsal (신살), the relationships and the old named patterns, each with a sentence on what it means for you.

Nothing is left as jargon, nothing is dressed up as fate. If you don't know your birth hour we say so and mark that pillar as an estimate rather than quietly inventing one.
