Features & Capabilities

Not sure what your lawn needs this week? Turf/OS reads your yard and your weather, then gives you one clear answer — in plain English, no guesswork.

Turf/OS is a local-first lawn planner built for homeowners who want better timing, better records, and better decisions for every part of the yard.

Instead of relying on generic seasonal calendars, Turf/OS uses your mapped property, your grass type, your USDA zone, and your local weather to tell you what to do next — and exactly when to do it.

MAP THE LAWN THE APP WILL PLAN AROUND Draw your front, back, side, and garden zones. Each area tracks its own square footage, grass type, and treatment history. Multi-zone properties are first-class — not an afterthought.

A SCHEDULE TUNED TO YOUR TURF Turf/OS builds a custom application calendar from your grass type (cool-season, warm-season, transition), your USDA zone, your local weather and soil temperature trends, and your recent treatment history. Pre-emergent windows, fertilization timing, weed pressure, and mowing height — all scheduled around what your lawn actually needs.

HYPER-LOCAL WEATHER THAT DRIVES TIMING Turf/OS pulls live data from the National Weather Service and Open-Meteo: soil temperature, dew point, growing degree days, wind, Delta T, and ET. Spray windows, mowing guidance, and weekend planning all adapt to conditions at your curb — not the regional average.

READ THE SOIL. GET A PLAN BACK. Drop in your soil-test numbers — pH, P, K, Mg, Ca, organic matter — and Turf/OS returns a personalized action plan: which products to apply, at what rate, and when. Recommendations are grounded in real agronomic guidance.

SMART PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS FROM YOUR SHED Turf/OS recommends products from what's already on your shelf first, calibrated to your yard's needs this week. Scan barcodes or add custom products with your own rates and costs. Track what's left in the bag, what each application cost, and what worked.

POWER FEATURES

  • GDD-based PGR tracking: Trinexapac re-application alerts based on heat accumulation
  • Spreader calibration: save your equipment settings once, get accurate rates every time
  • Treatment logs: product, rate, cost, weather, and zone all captured
  • Zone photo timelines: watch each area change through the season
  • Weekend Assistant: reminders that wait for the right application window
  • Local notifications for reminders and weather-related alerts

LOCAL-FIRST BY DESIGN Your property maps, photos, treatment logs, and settings stay on your device. No account required. No cloud lock-in. Your data is yours.

BUILT FOR REAL PROPERTIES

  • Multiple zones, mixed grass types, irrigated and non-irrigated areas
  • Cool-season and warm-season turf (Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, KBG, TTTF, and more)
  • USDA zones across the continental US
  • Property sizes from 1,000 sq ft to several acres
  • Treatment history that carries year over year

WHY TURF/OS IS DIFFERENT Most lawn-care apps either dumb everything down to a generic monthly checklist or bury you in data nobody acts on. Turf/OS sits in the middle: serious agronomic logic translated into clear weekly decisions. Every recommendation ties back to your zones, your grass, and your weather.

If you're tired of guessing whether this Saturday is right for pre-emergent — or whether soil temps are finally there for fert — Turf/OS gives you a defensible answer.

Plan confidently. Track consistently. Make every application window count.

The whole app is an awesome, but after about 15 min of setup, it’s a huge disappointment to open the app and find everything’s been wiped clean. Maybe I did something wrong, setup again, close app, open again next day, wiped clean. Hopefully this can be fixed because I had 4 other coworkers download the app before I knew about the glitch.

I’ve tried a LOT of tools to manage landscaping jobs, and nothing has come close to Turf-OS. This app seriously changed the way I run my business. Scheduling used to be a mess…now I can organize my entire week in minutes. It’s a simple and all in one stop shop. It’s saved me hours every week and helped me stay way more organized. What I love most is how easy it is to use. You don’t have to be “techy” to figure it out—it just makes sense. Plus, it actually feels like it was built for people in the landscaping business, not some generic software trying to do everything. If you’re running a lawn care or landscaping company and feeling overwhelmed, you NEED this app. It’s a game changer.

UPDATE TO 1 STAR: Now the application does not persist its data and my entire yard profile has been deleted. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME WOTH THIS APPLICATION As a mobile application developer I can tell you this app lacks some basic functionality, one specifically in the CRUD architecture is the U - Update data functionality. User can Create aspect to the application (shed products, yards, etc) obviously have the ability to read the data and can delete it. However if you add a product to your shed and you enter data incorrectly you can’t go back and edit that entry. Instead you have to Delete and start over. Explicit close view functionality is missing. When in a “pop up view” or modal view, the application doesn’t have an explicit close functionality. Scaling and view limits. Some views have a “back” action button in the top left, however on different form factors this action button can be deemed useless as the touch points are being rendered outside of the usable space.
